The National Weather Service has issued blizzard warnings for several regions. In Kansas, a blizzard warning is in effect for Butler County from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 5. Residents should prepare for heavy mixed precipitation and blizzard conditions.
Similarly, the Kansas City area is under a blizzard warning from 3 a.m. Sunday to 3 a.m. Monday. This includes counties such as Atchison, Doniphan, Leavenworth, Holt, Andrew, and De Kalb. The storm may bring significant snowfall and strong winds, making travel dangerous.
The storm is expected to start affecting the northern Plains on Friday, then move to the central Plains, Ohio and Tennessee valleys, and mid-Atlantic states over the weekend. Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain are anticipated, which could disrupt travel and daily activities.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and follow any guidance from authorities. It’s important to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm and to have emergency supplies ready in case of power outages or other disruptions.
